
The 2024 edition of the ICF Junior U23 World Championships have come to an end with the New Zealand squad not achieving any medals but an increase in athletes progressing to semi-final and finals appearances.
Liptovsky Mikulas and the Slovakian Federation put on a great event attended by 48 nations including 16 kiwi paddlers competing across K1, C1 and Kayak Cross events. Nick Collier had flagbearer honours for the Opening Ceremony in acknowledgement of his silver medal performance the previous year.
Five athletes (Kadin Nogaj, Tess Pateman, Jayden Parker, Mayah Dooney and Joseph Sampson) made their Junior Worlds debut joined by Rosie Rex and Ollie Goldsmith returning with the squad but adding K1 to their events. In the U23's it was the last appearance for Hannah Thomas and Jaimee Wilson with Ben Pilbrow making the move up to U23s with many athletes achieveing Personal Bests across their events.
