Canoe Slalom has lost one of its legends, Sarge (also know as Alan Hoffman) lost his 8 year battle with cancer. Sarge has held many roles within Canoe Slalom, he organised events, coached, managed teams, has been on committees, was an athlete, built courses, competed in events but most importantly he just loved kayaking, canoe slalom, and helping people.

It didn’t matter if you were a complete beginner or an Olympian, Sarge would be there running down the river bank with you or paddling beside you, encouraging you and then analysing your performance ready for your next run.

Our condolences go to Kirsty, Nick, Mike and their families. Sarge, you are a legend and you’re going to be missed.
